U.S. Navy Issues Contract Modification to Lockheed Martin to Construct, Procure Littoral Combat Ships
The U.S. Navy has issued a Lockheed Martin-led industry team a contract modification for one fully funded 2015 Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) valued at $362 million, along with $79 million in advanced procurement funding for a second ship. The balance of the second ship will be funded by Dec. 31, 2015.The advanced procurement dollars approved by Congress provides the funding required to maintain the cost and schedule of the final block buy option. The award also includes a priced option for one additional fiscal year 2016 ship.“We are proud to continue this partnership with the Navy in building the advanced Freedom-variant littoral combat ship, and we thank the Navy for maintaining the cost and schedule for the block buy,” said Joe North, vice president of Littoral Ship Systems at Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training. “Thousands of people across the country contribute to this important program and will continue to do so as we transition to the new frigate upgrade in the coming years.

Keller Promotes Cohen to Expeditor
Keller, Inc., a Design/Build General Contractor with offices in the Fox Cities, Madison, Milwaukee and Wausau announces the promotion of Adam Cohen to Expeditor. Cohen has been with Keller for the past ten years working in the Finish Carpentry Division as a Craftsman and most recently a Leadman since 2011. As an Expeditor, he is responsible for the coordination of all subcontractors and material ordering.

Ameriprise Private Wealth Status Achievement
Karen Sebero and Mark Rasner have achieved an Ameriprise Private Wealth status. Sebero and Rasner, with an office in Marinette, WI are among approximately 10 percent of the nearly 10,000 Ameriprise financial advisors to achieve this status.

National Teach Children to Save Day
Employees at the Farmers & Merchants Bank & Trust recently visited area schools in observance of National Teach Children to Save Day. This year’s date was April 24th.  Eight bankers from the Farmers & Merchants Bank & Trust made 23 presentations to over 500 students in Marinette, Crivitz and Menominee teaching them about the value and benefits of saving money.

St. Thomas Aquinas Academy Students Visit State Capital
Fourth and Fifth grade students from Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy recently visited Madison to learn about our state government and history. The students, teachers and chaperones met with Marinette native, Representative John Nygren and were able to view the various offices of Senators, representatives and judges.

State-of-the-Art Lab Introduces Students to High Tech Manufacturing Careers
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC)and AT&T recently announced an AT&T Innovation & Investment Award that will support the new ElectroMechanical Training Lab at Marinette High School.  The AT&T contribution will be used to provide Marinette High School students with a semester of education and hands-on training in the new ElectroMechanical Training Lab.  The goal is to introduce students to high tech manufacturing careers through the state-of-the-art mobile lab.

Nominations for the Chamber Board of Directors Now Open
The Chamber is focused on advancing the economic and social environments of the area through the strengthening of our business community.  The Board of Directors, the governing body of the Chamber, determines policies and procedures of the organization to accomplish this mission. Currently we are seeking candidates to fill open Board positions beginning on October 1st, 2015.

US 41 Officially Added to Interstate System Federal Highway Administration Approval Means I-41 Signs Will Start Going Up In Summer
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker recently announced that U.S. 41 in the eastern part of the state has been officially added to the Interstate System as I-41.  “The Interstate designation is the culmination of years of hard work by federal, state, and local officials that will stimulate economic opportunities from Milwaukee to Green Bay and beyond,” Governor Walker said. “Our Interstate system is a critical part of our infrastructure, which fuels commerce, helps grow the economy, and create jobs.”
