Economic Development

Our community has several economic development organizations to help your business start up or expand.
In Marinette County, economic development is a public-private partnership. The Marinette County Association for Business & Industry is led by Don Clewley, a former banker with a vast knowledge of the county and its resources. Don is involved in many regional business development efforts. Don's office is location within the chamber's Marinette office at 601 Marinette Ave. Contact him at (715) 735-6681.
In Menominee County, economic development efforts are led by Nancy Douglas, director of the Menominee Business Development Corporation, also a public-private partnership. A former chamber executive and fund raiser, Nancy has a reputation for getting the job done. Contact her at (906) 863-2656.
The chamber executive director is a member of both the MCABI and MBDC boards of directors.
The chamber offers small-business counseling at both offices. To set up an appointment with Jim Beauchamp, our counselor, call us at (715) 735-6681. Call the same number to set up small-business insurance counseling with David Remington.
Our Regional Community & Economic Development Partnership meets monthly to share information on workforce development efforts. Our Education & Business Partnership focuses on working with schools to help students and support teachers.
The chamber and its tourism arm work closely with the Marinette County board's Economic Development & Tourism Committee, sharing information on a monthly basis.
In 2009, we partnered with the M&M Area Community Foundation, the Mary L. Staudenmaier Fund and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College to offer a business start-up program for women. We offer on-going support and networking opportunities for businesses through our Small Business Council's Business-for-Breakfast program and our Women's Business Network.
We are continually looking for new ways to support area economic development efforts.
